22 and growing!
Alrighty, so it has been a bit, but I am still alive...and baby and daddy. So much has happened since two weeks ago. So the weekend of March 21st was awesome! I had a 30th birthday party! And my favorite part was we had pizza, my favorite food! I had many relatives come to the party and two people that are like family....Trista and Cathy! They rock and weren't scared by all the loud voices and family around, phew! So Saturday was super....hey Trish, loved the "turd" cake. Celia, you missed a totally yucky, but good cake. Yummy. Our last visitors left around midnight, thanks to our lovely game of Mexican Train (thanks mom)! Sunday was totally relaxing and no one did much of anything. We did sleep in and maybe go for a walk, but not much else. Hey, I also took Monday (my real birthday) off from work and just sat and read and hat hot chocolate, due to the rainy weather. It was nice though.

+++ baby's brain and nerve endings are now sensitive to the sensation of touch

PARTING WORDS
Okay so many of you know....some don't, but baby Smetana made an appearance on Wednesday, March 25th to mommy and daddy. Of course s/he was still in mommy's tummy, but wow, talk about awesome!!! No, we are waiting to find out the gender, but we did see a healthy baby inside me! The baby was said to weight exactly 1 pound and have all fingers and toes. We have several pictues, which hopefully will be on site soon. Baby had a picture taken that looked to be sucking his/her thumb. So cute! Also my favorite picture was that of the baby's feet. I just have to find a perfect frame with feet on it to match baby's feet. :) In other worlds, daddy is having soo much fun tearing apart what is going to be baby's room. I have helped a little bit where I can, but nothing too trying or bad. So all is well in the "White House." We are getting closer to Easter and me doing a mini drive run to FL to help my mom move for three months, but it is all good and hey, who doesn't love a good road trip. Baby...20 and mommy...30!
Well, baby is now 20 weeks and four days (Wednesday) and mommy is almost 30, come Monday the 23rd. Mommy is still ahead...he he he. Mommy and family are still doing well, actually better then ever. I had a wonderful weekend in many ways! On Friday, I went to spend the weekend up in the Twin Cities for a visit among other agenda items. On Friday, I went outside my comfort zone and learned to play guitar hero....I only stayed on the three key level cuz it got too hard after that...;) On Saturday I got to be a kid again. I took my Godson to the science museum. Holy moly! I don't know who had more fun, Mark or me....! I took a break and hung out with my mommy and had some pizza and some bonding with mommy time! Sunday I got a well deserved hour long professional massage. Yep, a friend of mine gifted me a massage and I used it! It was HEAVEN! Yep, it was a pregnancy massage and it was fabulous. So after the massage I relaxed with my friend and then headed home shortly after. Talk about a great weekend. I know my pregnancy has been very calming and so was last weekend.

+++ the baby has thin eyebrows forming, hair on the scalp, and life-like limbs
+++ baby has regular periods of wakefulness and sleepiness
+++ skeleton is continuing to harden and help baby with growing
+++ baby can make a variety of happy faces and grimaces
So all is still going well for baby, mommy, and daddy. Mommy did get a little cold/runny nose that finally got to her. She is a toughy, but her nose is very sore from blowing it all the time. To her credit though she spoke with the doctor and got her some decongestion and it should be okay from now on. She is still a little funny sounding, but hey, it is all okay. There will still be the pizza party on Saturday, but Ann may not be able to stay up til midnight....;)
QUESTIONS
1. Any advice before going on vacation? (I will be going in late June, by car, to FL!)
2. When is the best time to hit garage sales and how do I know which ones to go to vs. skipping?
3. Any referrals for daycare? (I went looking earlier today and found some interesting ones.)

I am thinking I will probably do the blog on Wednesdays due to more time during my Wednesdays off! Next Wednesday Dave and I have the ultrasound so who knows, we may know the gender of the baby by the next blog! Then again we may not. It will be a momentary thing cuz we keep going back and forth on whether we want to know or not. Well spring is in the air so get out and enjoy....I even did the drying of laundry today OUTSIDE!!! Almost 20!
So it is week 19 and moving along swiftly! I can't believe how times flies! Many adventures this week, but nothing dangerous, just more then nothing. Lots of good food this past weekend and man I felt stuffed come Monday night, and it wasn't the baby growing inside of me! Friday Dave and I ate at Chez Durman. It was yummy...we had tuna casserole and good salad! The crazy cake, was that, crazy, but delicious! Saturday, my mom and sister came down for the evening to have a combo birthday dinner for Dave and myself. We ate at Castle Hill and their buffet was to die for....literally I think we wore a path to the buffet! We all were groaning on the couch come 7:30 that night. It was hilarious! Sunday was a brunch at Snow Castle Rodenberg! We had a home-cooked meal with the rest of the clan to celebrate Emily's 15th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMILY! So needless to say the brunch was soo filling, dinner was very minute, but for a good reason. Monday was all me.....well Dave too cuz it was his birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE! I cooked tacos per his request for a birthday dinner. He was very simple and only wanted tacos....thanks for making it easy! Phew! I must have had at least 4 of them and wanted more, but geez, my tummy was full! So that was a fun food filled four days!

Well now to the adventurous part. Rose, my sis-in-law came over Saturday and we were set to de-wallpaper what is going to be baby's room, when plans changed. They DRASTICALLY changed too. We got to work and then Daddy Dave came in and reassessed the situation. He decided instead of doing more work in the long run with the wallpaper and walls, he said go ahead and take it down to the lath (for those of you who don't know, lath is old fashioned walls, they didn't have sheetrock). So Rose and I went right to work. It was WAY more fun then taking the wallpaper down. Plus we saw the results immediately too! Thanks Rose! After a bit, Justin and Dave finished the soon to be master suite and came to help us in the nursery. However, after a bit, it became too dusty for me with all four of us pounding away and I decided to bow out. It was pretty funny though when all three came downstairs. They looked soo funny from white hair (Rose and Justin) to almost white glove looking hands (Dave). Good thing I got away while I could! he he he.

Once again, sorry it is Wednesday and not Sunday for you regular readers. I guess I am becoming slower now....eeek! Nah, it was just a busy weekend and we didn't feel like blogging on Sunday night. In other news, and things to look forward to, I have a birthday party coming up March 21st! For those of you who are interested, please email me for details. Also coming up March 25 mommy and daddy will get to see baby Smetana!!! We still haven't decided whether to know the baby's gender, it will be a last moment decision probably. So stay tuned for maybe a picture of baby Smetana, who knows?! Still no luck with the commenting on this blog, but we will keep trying. 5 and 18?!
Bat woman here I come!
So as the title reads, first I am in my fifth month or the beginning of my eighteenth weeks! So far the sailing is good! No symptoms like morning sickness, swelling, cravings, crabbiness, or even backaches. My tummy is growing a little because my pants are becoming a little tighter, but nothing unwearable yet. So the immediateness (is that a word) is okay, but no doubt it will probably be the hottest summer alive until I deliver in late July, early August! ;) That is alright though I can bear it for sure.
+++ eyebrows and hairs on baby's scalp are continuing to appear
+++ baby is still having hiccups, even though mommy hasn't felt any yet
+++ brown fat is beginning to develop under baby's skin (this helps keep baby warm during the transition from mommy's womb to the world outside
+++ baby's bones are beginning to harden (called ossification)
+++ baby's ears and legs are first to ossify, in other words, baby is starting to hear sounds outside of the womb (this would be a good time to talk to baby or have music play sometimes)
So now to the Batwoman part...those of you that are scared of bats, skip directly to the Parting Words part. So this past week, Daddy Dave and I both had Wednesday off and we worked upstairs. We took advantage of the nice weather (it was 41 degrees) and I was throwing boards out the window from the second floor to the backyard. While long story short, I ended up stepping on a bat, like the animal not the bat as in baseball!!! Dave said I flew from one end of the room to the other in two seconds flat and shut the door behind him, not worrying about Dave. He barely understood what I said, but eventually turn towards where I was standing and saw the bat on the floor flaundering. He scooped it up and threw it out the window onto the snow below and let it die there! Holy smokes! So needless to say I was finished helping him for the day in there. All is okay though, no one got bit and I think the bat was more scare of me then me of him, although I was/am very scared of bats still!
QUESTIONS
1. Does anyone have anything that would work for heartburn other then Tums?
2. Any travel recommendations for longer car rides (like 4 hrs. plus)?
3. Any good recipes for smoothies or drinks/dishes to get more vegetables into one's diet?

First off, let me apologize for skipping a week on this blog. Dave and I were gone all weekend and then on Monday I had to take a friend to Urgent Care and well after that the week escaped from me. I have two symptoms that have appeared, but nothing major. I am beginning to notice a little more heartburn as well as fatigue setting in earlier (like 9pm rather then 11). It is ok though. As Dave said, just go to bed when you are tired, no big deal. So tums have become a friend of mine as well as turning in earlier these days (no evening movies without me falling asleep). Also starting this week, Dave and I are starting "Tummy Time." This means daily, Dave and I will be relaxing with baby and listening to music/sounds (without words) roughly for about thirty to sixty minutes in hopes to take some family time and help baby relax too. This is all from the "White House" tonight. Thanks and good night. Oh, and hopefully coming next week there will be a way for anyone to post a comment without using their own email addresses.
