Lucky number 13

Beginning week 13!

So for many people the number 13 is unlucky. Some hotels/motels don't label the 13th floor correctly, they label it 14! How weird is that?! Well any who, the 13th week started on Saturday, January 23 for us. I don't really know if this is the last week of the 1st trimester or the first week of the 2nd trimester. I have seen it both ways depending on the book one refers too. Whatever way you look at it though, we are what many people/doctors call the "safe zone." What this means it that if a miscarriage were to occur it would most likely happen in this first time frame. I am not saying it won't happen after, but the severity is lower. For those of you holding your breath, you may now exhale.

Well about a week ago, less then, last Monday, I kind of felt pregnant in the sense that my tummy felt a little bloated. I have noticed that fried foods do affect me negatively and I need to have as little of them as possible or in moderation. Other weekly updates, I have gathered a few clothes here and there from friends, relatives, and old doll clothes. Yeah that is funny. I was unpacking some boxes and ran across some old doll clothes and found out that some of them were real baby clothes and not just doll clothes. So I have a little bit of "boy" clothes and some little "girl" clothes. For those of you wondering, Dave and I are not finding out the gender of our baby, it won't change anything. So everyone will have to wait until little baby comes for good to find out if it is a boy or girl.

QUESTIONS

None at this time

PARTING WORDS

Dave and I are still very happy and looking forward to the arrival of our baby. As promised we will share our names for the baby to come. If it is a girl it will be Sophia Ann. If it is a boy it will be Joshua David. The reasoning behind Sophia comes from Gene Simmons's (singer in the band Kiss) daughter. Joshua is the name of a book that Ann read and really really enjoyed. Dave suggested for the middle names to use our names because he has his dad's name for his middle and really liked that idea. Oh and get this, I asked Dave if he had anything to add about me and seeing signs of pregnancy and he said, "nope, not even mood swings yet!" I was soo happy to hear this because once or twice I have been short with him and obviously he took it alright.

Coming next issue....who knows right now?! :) ;)

Baby on the way!

Hello one and all and welcome to our (Ann and Dave) blog. Yep, we figured this was the easiest way to keep everyone in touch without emailing everyone all the time and hoping not to forget anyone. I know, what technology won't think of next. So those of you interested, Dave and I will update this blog hopefully (we will try) once a week, roughly Sunday nights when we are home and can do it together. Well as far as baby and me are concerned, I am the luckiest and unluckiest. I am the luckiest in part because I haven't had any problems or symptoms yet. Woohoo, yeah for us! I am the unluckiest because I do have to use the bathroom quite frequently and I KNOW it will only get worse! eek!

+++ this month (beginning of week 12 for me), the uterus is a little bigger than a grapefruit

+++ the baby is referred to as a fetus now and is reaching 2.5 to 3 inches in length

+++ baby is weighing 1.5 ounces and about the size of an apple!

+++ baby's eyes are moving closer together and ears are positioning themselves on the side of its head

+++ taste buds, whirl of hair patterns, and teeth are forming

Mommy is drinking plenty of water due to doctor's reccommendations. I am also limiting my caffeine intake to a can of pop a day. Dave is helping me watch what I eat and making sure my nutrition is getting better, as in at snack time I reach for more nutrious rather then sugary foods. Man, what a great daddy-to-be! Other then that nothing too new. Oh, and have no fear for mommy-to-be is NOT helping paint the bat cave (man cave) downstairs. :) Feel free to email me or daddy Dave if you have specific questions or concerns. We love all advice given and will even ask questions on here if some arise.

QUESTIONS

1. How come sleeping on the left side of my body is suggested, does it really matter?

2. Does sleeping on my tummy hurt the baby, is it ok?

PARTING WORDS

Alrighty people, we appreciate your visit here and hope you will continue the journey with us! Only 28 more weeks to go! Not that I am counting, but I am very excited to see my tummy grow and feel the baby inside. Coming next blog....possibly the names Dave and I have chosen for our baby. As of yet, we haven't heard a heartbeat or seen the baby, but we do know it is here....at least that is what we are told. We are very excited despite it not setting in that we are soon to be parents!

Greet and meet

Hello one and all. Well Dave and I would like to welcome you to our baby blogging spot. This way Dave and I figured out we could send out information without saying the same thing a zillion times. Also you can visit our blog as much or as little as you want and get information as you have time for and at your convienance. So, we are new at this and hope you will bear with us as well.

BABY NEWS

+++ my uterus is a little bigger than a grapefruit

+++ baby is a fetus now, no longer an embryo

+++ baby is reaching 2.5 to 3 inches in length and weighs roughly 1.5 ounces

+++ baby is about the size of an apple!

+++ eyes and ears are moving to correct position on face

+++ taste buds and teeth are forming as well

Mommy is getting enough water per doctor's request. Dave is helping me with my diet and nutrition. He is also making sure instead of me reaching for sugary snacks I reach for more healthy ones. Although sometimes, I do treat myself. I am also limiting my caffeine intake, mostly only having one can of pop per day. I am the luckiest and unluckiest mommy right now. I am the luckiest because I don't have hardly any bad issues with pregnancy right now. However, I am unlucky because I have to pee a lot/often. Thus, I know it will ONLY GET WORSE! eek! So all in all, all three of us are doing well. Have no fear, I am also not helping my hubby with painting the "man cave" downstairs. :)

QUESTIONS

1. Why is it that I am suppose to sleep on my left side, and does it really matter?

2. Does it hurt the baby if I sleep on my tummy?

PARTING WORDS

So Dave and I would like to thank you for visiting our blog. You are welcome to answer our questions or email them or just ignore them. We encourage you to continue blogging with us and our baby until he/she arrives. Also we will try to update this weekly (we will try) on Sundays usually because we are both home and can write this together.
